Antique French Limoges Bisque Doll, 17 Inches
This charming antique French doll with a bisque head was produced in the Limoges region of France, most likely during the first quarter of the 20th century. She stands approximately 17 inches / 43 cm tall.
The doll has a very appealing and expressive face with delicate painting, softly blushed cheeks, and vivid blue fixed glass eyes, a feature commonly seen on many French dolls of this period. Her open mouth reveals small teeth, and her pierced ears are adorned with earrings. The back of the head is marked LIMOGES FRANCE.
The head is mounted on a fully jointed composition body. The body retains good structural integrity and mobility, while showing natural age-related rubbing, minor surface wear, and some loss to the painted finish consistent with an authentic antique doll.
She is presented in a beautifully coordinated light-colored ensemble with fur trim, stockings, and shoes. Her look is completed with a light-colored wig and a red bow, giving her a particularly lively and memorable presence. A small decorative dog accessory completes the presentation.
Condition
The bisque head is in very good condition, with no cracks, hairlines, or chips. The facial painting and glass eyes are well preserved.
The composition body is intact and stable, with age-related rubbing and signs of use. The clothing, wig, and accessories may also show light wear consistent with age and storage.
