Antique German Kestner Doll 23” Bisque Head Jointed Composition Body Blue Sleep Eyes c.1915
This is an antique German doll from the early 20th century, created by Kestner, circa 1915–1920. A characterful example with expressive features and softly modeled facial structure.
She measures 23 inches (approx. 58 cm) and weighs 3.5 pounds. A medium-sized piece with a strong visual presence, equally suitable for both display and collection.
The head is made of bisque, with clean, well-preserved painting and an even complexion. Her blue glass sleep eyes function properly, adding depth and lifelike expression. The open mouth with teeth enhances her natural character and charm.
The bisque head is well preserved, free of chips, with intact surface and painting. There is a fine line at the corner of the mouth, typical for antique bisque, which does not affect the overall display, such lines are characteristic of factory formation during the kiln firing process
She wears a mohair wig (natural goat hair) in a soft tone that complements her features and overall appearance.
The body is original composition, marked Germany 4 (red stamp), and was previously restored. It remains structurally stable with good stringing, allowing the doll to hold a confident pose. All fingers are present. There are moderate, age-appropriate signs of wear consistent with the period.
Her outfit is not original, but thoughtfully assembled and stylistically coherent. The blue dress echoes the color of her eyes, creating a harmonious visual composition. She holds an additional garment, adding movement and narrative to the presentation.
Her undergarments include pantaloons and a slip — all neatly made and detailed. The look is completed with shoes and carefully selected decorative elements that enhance the overall balance.
This doll carries a distinct mood and story. A dedicated musical composition and atmospheric video were created especially for her, offering a deeper sense of her character and presence in motion.
All details and nuances are clearly shown in the photographs.
A well-preserved example with expressive features and a cohesive presentation, suitable for both collectors and interior display

About the Creator / Gallery
Meet Yana Lamar
I am Yana Lamar, a collector and restorer who turned a late‑found curiosity for dolls into a carefully curated gallery of antique characters.
I seek dolls that carry quiet stories — France, German, Japan, American - bisque girls, shy companions from attics and trunks — and give them a second life with gentle restoration instead of perfection.
In this online boutique you will not find mass‑market pieces, only a small rotating collection chosen for their personality, history, and the feeling they bring into a room.
