Antique Heinrich Handwerck 109 Bisque Head Doll, 23 Inches, Sleeping Blue Glass Eyes, Germany c. 1905–1915
This beautiful antique Heinrich Handwerck mold 109 doll is an excellent example of the refined craftsmanship that made German dollmakers famous during the early twentieth century. Standing 23 inches (approximately 58 cm) tall, she has an elegant presence, beautifully balanced proportions, and the sweet, expressive face that makes the Handwerck 109 one of the factory’s most admired molds.
The doll is marked 109 / 12 DEP Germany H 4 on the back of the head. Her bisque head is in excellent antique condition, free of cracks, chips, or restorations. She has finely hand-painted facial features, soft rosy cheeks, an open mouth with teeth, and beautiful blue glass sleeping eyes. The eye mechanism works properly, giving her a wonderfully lifelike expression.
She wears a lovely natural mohair wig, which complements her gentle face and classic presentation.
The doll is mounted on her original German jointed wood and composition body, which is complete and structurally sound. The body has been lightly refreshed with paint in the past, while preserving its original construction. It shows only minor age-related wear, consistent with its antique character. The stringing is good, allowing the doll to stand securely and display beautifully.
She is dressed in a beautiful antique cotton dress with antique undergarments. A second delicate antique dress is included, offering an additional display option and adding to the charm and collectibility of the set. She also wears stockings and vintage shoes that complete her elegant presentation.
Heinrich Handwerck dolls are highly regarded for their expressive faces, fine bisque quality, and excellent German craftsmanship. This example combines a desirable mold number, excellent head condition, an original body, working sleeping eyes, and a beautiful wardrobe, making her a wonderful addition to any serious antique doll collection.
Like many dolls in our gallery, she has her own specially composed musical piece and an artistic YouTube video, created to celebrate her unique character and history.

Where Every Doll Carries a Story
About the Creator / Gallery
Meet Yana Lamar
I am Yana Lamar, a collector and restorer who turned a late‑found curiosity for dolls into a carefully curated gallery of antique characters.
I seek dolls that carry quiet stories — France, German, Japan, American - bisque girls, shy companions from attics and trunks — and give them a second life with gentle restoration instead of perfection.
In this online boutique you will not find mass‑market pieces, only a small rotating collection chosen for their personality, history, and the feeling they bring into a room.
