This is an early antique German doll from circa 1895–1905 by Heinrich Handwerck, mold 139 — a classic and highly regarded model known for its soft, childlike expression and timeless appeal.

She stands at an impressive 28 inches (approx. 71 cm), placing her in the large cabinet size category and giving her a strong and elegant presence in both collections and interiors.

The bisque head is of high quality with finely hand-painted features and a beautifully balanced expression. Her glass eyes create a gentle, lifelike gaze that enhances her natural character. The bisque is in excellent condition — free of cracks or hairlines — with only light traces of adhesive along the wig line from previous setting, not affecting the integrity of the bisque.

She is fitted with a wig made of natural hair, softly styled and harmonious with her overall appearance.

A particularly desirable feature of this doll is her original leather (chevrot) body, which remains in excellent condition. The body retains its softness, structure, and integrity, reflecting the early period of manufacture and adding to the authenticity of the piece.

She is presented in a delicate, thoughtfully styled outfit that complements her gentle expression. Fine fabrics, soft tones, and carefully chosen details create a refined and cohesive presentation.

A dedicated musical composition and an atmospheric video were created especially for her and are available on YouTube, offering a deeper sense of her presence and allowing her character to be experienced in motion.

All details and condition aspects are clearly shown in the photographs.

A beautifully preserved early example of the Handwerck mold 139, combining a clean bisque head, original leather body, and impressive size — a doll with strong presence and timeless character, ideal for a refined collection or interior

Where Every Doll Carries a Story

About the Creator / Gallery

Meet Yana Lamar

I am Yana Lamar, a collector and restorer who turned a late‑found curiosity for dolls into a carefully curated gallery of antique characters.

I seek dolls that carry quiet stories — France, German, Japan, American - bisque girls, shy companions from attics and trunks — and give them a second life with gentle restoration instead of perfection.

In this online boutique you will not find mass‑market pieces, only a small rotating collection chosen for their personality, history, and the feeling they bring into a room.
