A charming antique Kewpie doll designed by Rose O’Neill, made in Germany in the early 20th century. This miniature all-bisque doll measures approximately 4.5 inches / 11.4 cm tall and retains all of the recognizable features of the classic Kewpie: side-glancing eyes, a tiny smile, the characteristic topknot, blue wings on the back, and expressive little hands.
The doll is made entirely of bisque porcelain. The torso and legs are formed as one piece, while the arms are separately attached. An original round paper label with Rose O’Neill copyright information remains on the back, adding particular collector interest.
The green ribbon at the shoulder area is not part of the doll’s original decoration. It is used to secure the arms and help keep them properly positioned.
